Private 5G, explained
Private cellular access.
Designed around a defined site.
A private 5G network uses cellular radio equipment and core-network functions to serve an organisation within an agreed area. Compatible devices connect using authorised SIM or eSIM identities and the network’s access policies.
It can be relevant where mobile equipment, site coverage or operational requirements justify a dedicated cellular design. Radian helps assess the business case, spectrum arrangements, devices and integration rather than assuming private 5G is right for every site.

The features that matter, with the practical details made clear.
Assess indoor and outdoor areas, obstructions and device movement before choosing radio locations and capacity.
Control which compatible devices can connect through the agreed SIM or eSIM identity and provisioning process.
Define throughput, delay and mobility requirements, then validate them in a representative pilot.
Plan authentication, segmentation, administration and links to business or operational systems.
Review application paths, edge processing and the boundaries between networked equipment and other systems.
Agree spectrum, hardware, software, monitoring, maintenance and change responsibilities for the chosen design.
Service availability, equipment, features, licences and support scope are confirmed in your proposal. Optional services are priced and agreed separately.
The picture, made clearer
Simplified private-cellular architecture. Local data routing is a design choice; a private network does not automatically keep every data flow on-site.
DEFINED COVERAGE AREA
Core location, spectrum and routing are agreed in the design.
Illustrative cellular architecture. Spectrum, device support, core location and data routes depend on the selected design.
Make an informed choice
Explore connectivity for compatible handhelds, vehicles or equipment. Application suitability and device support must be validated before operational use.
Review coverage and mobility across buildings or outdoor areas, with appropriate backhaul, power and radio planning.
Assess the use case, duration, installation constraints and commercial case alongside Wi-Fi and public cellular alternatives.
The practical details
Private cellular introduces device, spectrum and operating-model decisions. A focused pilot helps establish whether the approach meets your needs.
Plan your setup ↗Review radio conditions, spectrum access, compatible equipment and the systems that need connecting.
Agree whether traffic stays local, uses a hosted core or reaches external services, and secure those boundaries.
Test representative movement, load, devices and application performance before extending the network.
From enquiry to everyday use
Define the use case, site and intended outcome.
Review spectrum, devices, architecture and commercial fit.
Test representative equipment and application behaviour.
Agree rollout, ownership, support and future growth.
A little more clarity
Have a question about your setup?
Tell us what you want to achieve.
No. The better fit depends on devices, coverage, mobility, capacity, spectrum and cost. The technologies can also complement one another.
Compatibility must be checked, including supported bands, network features and SIM or eSIM arrangements. Ordinary device ownership is not enough to confirm support.
Only if the architecture and application paths are designed that way. Core location, management and external service routes need explicit review.
The project must use suitable authorised spectrum arrangements. Applicable licensing, coordination and responsibilities are confirmed during feasibility and deployment.
No universal figure should be assumed. Radio design, core location, load, device support and applications all affect the outcome; agreed targets need testing.
Suitability needs a specific assessment with application and equipment owners. It should not be assumed from a general description of private 5G.
UK-wide service enquiries
A private mobile network needs a site-specific business case. Share the UK location, coverage area, supported devices and application requirements so spectrum, architecture, integration and operational responsibilities can be assessed.
Based in Charlwood, we welcome enquiries nationwide, with a particular focus on Horley, Crawley, Gatwick, Surrey, Sussex and London. Delivery, availability and any site attendance are confirmed for your chosen service.
