Microsoft Teams Phone, explained

What is Microsoft Teams Phone?

Phone-system capability.
Inside Microsoft Teams.

Teams Phone adds business phone-system capabilities to a suitably licensed Microsoft Teams environment. Calling ordinary telephone numbers also requires a supported connection to the public telephone network.

Radian helps bring those components together with users, numbers, devices and support. We compare the appropriate calling model and make the licences and service responsibilities explicit before rollout.

Make an informed choice

Choose the setup around your work.

01

Microsoft Calling Plans

A Microsoft-provided telephone-network connection, where available. Check destinations, number support and the commercial terms for the chosen plan.

02

Operator Connect

A participating operator provides supported telephone-network connectivity through the Operator Connect model. Availability and provider support need checking.

03

Direct Routing

A supported, Microsoft-certified SBC connects Teams Phone with a telephony service. A managed SBC arrangement can be considered.

The practical details

Plan around callers.
Prepare the people answering.

The useful outcome is a working business calling experience, rather than simply adding another subscription.

Microsoft Teams Phone,

Have a question about your setup?
Tell us what you want to achieve.

Does every Microsoft 365 plan include Teams Phone?

No. Teams access and Teams Phone entitlement must be checked for the chosen subscriptions and users.

Is Teams Phone the same as Direct Routing?

No. Teams Phone provides phone-system capability. Direct Routing is one way to connect it to the public telephone network.

Can we use phones as well as apps?

Supported devices can be considered alongside the Teams clients. Individual, shared and meeting-space devices may have different requirements.

Can users keep their existing business numbers?

Number transfers are subject to eligibility and provider checks. We coordinate them with the selected calling service.

Can we migrate in stages?

A pilot or phased rollout may be possible. Existing services, temporary routing and number-transfer dependencies need to be planned.

Are recording and contact-centre tools included?

These require a specific feature and licensing review. The proposal should identify the supported products and configuration rather than assuming they are standard.
