IoT SIM cards

Connectivity designed around your devices.

Connect equipment such as trackers, sensors and remote monitoring devices with a SIM plan suited to the application. We consider deployment locations, device compatibility and the way data is used.

Talk through your requirements

IoT SIM cards, explained

Start with the device, the information and the place it needs to work.

An IoT SIM provides cellular connectivity for equipment rather than only for a person's phone. That equipment might send occasional measurements, report a vehicle position, connect a payment device or upload camera footage. Each application creates different requirements for coverage, power, data allowance and access, so a single generic mobile package is rarely the best starting point.

Radian helps connect those requirements with suitable SIM and management options. We review the hardware, deployment locations and the path the data needs to take, then establish how services will be activated, monitored and supported. A small representative trial can provide useful evidence before the organisation commits to a larger rollout.

What it can do for your organisation

Practical benefits.
A clearer business fit.

01

Match the plan to the application

A sensor sending small readings and a camera sending video can have very different monthly consumption. Review the normal pattern, software updates and exceptional events, not just an average estimate. This helps choose allowances and controls that support the device's real job without unnecessary uncertainty.

02

Scale with a repeatable process

A consistent record linking each SIM to a device, location and owner makes expansion easier to manage. Agreeing configuration and activation steps at the beginning helps a second installation follow the successful pattern rather than relying on notes held by one person.

03

Gain useful operational visibility

Supported management tools can help teams see status and usage across the estate. Combining that information with device and application records makes investigation more effective: it becomes easier to distinguish a connectivity concern from a powered-off device or an application that is no longer reporting.

Make an informed choice

The options and details
worth understanding.

01

Compatibility and SIM form factor

Confirm the modem technologies, regional bands and physical or embedded SIM requirements of the equipment. An eSIM-capable device still needs a compatible provisioning arrangement; the presence of a SIM slot alone does not establish support for every network or service option.

02

APNs, addressing and remote access

The APN is part of how the modem establishes the data service. Devices may receive private addressing behind carrier-grade NAT, where ordinary inbound port forwarding is not an available route from the public internet. Depending on the application, a fixed public IP, a supported private APN arrangement or an outbound VPN/management connection may be more appropriate. Access still needs suitable authentication and controls.

03

Tariffs, roaming and management

Review permitted networks, countries, usage rules and optional functionality before deployment. Management access, reporting intervals, alerting and API features depend on the selected service. The configuration and the device's own behaviour should be included in the trial, especially where it will move between coverage areas.

Put the choices in context

The application determines the useful specification

How this can fit your world

From a service description
to a practical requirement.

Illustrative scenario

A remote environmental-monitoring deployment

The trial records how often readings are sent, the actual coverage at the installation position and what happens after a power interruption. The team can then repeat a known configuration and set sensible alerts, rather than ordering every SIM before confirming how the complete application behaves.

Illustrative scenario

A camera installation away from fixed broadband

A suitable router and SIM can be considered alongside the camera system. The review includes video upload consumption, remote-viewing arrangements and site power. Testing those requirements together is more useful than proving only that a laptop can browse through the router.

From planning to everyday use

Delivery with the details
thought through.

  1. 01

    Describe the device estate

Share modem or router models, intended countries, deployment locations and the application's expected traffic. Identify who owns the hardware and the receiving application.

  2. 02

    Choose the service options

Review network access, form factor, addressing and management requirements. Clarify the tariff, reporting and support arrangements for the proposed connectivity.

  3. 03

    Run a representative trial

Use actual equipment at a realistic site. Check attachment, data exchange, updates, remote access where required and recovery after a restart or coverage interruption.

  4. 04

    Roll out with records

Apply the agreed configuration and asset records to later devices. Establish usage review, change control and the route for investigating a device that stops reporting.

Your proposal confirms the available features, supported platforms and delivery responsibilities. Product availability and individual service commitments depend on the selected agreement.

A little more clarity

Useful answers
before you decide.

Have a question specific to your setup? Tell us about the systems, users and locations involved.

Mobile & IoT overview →
Can an IoT SIM work in our existing equipment?

It may, but the modem, frequency support, SIM format and application requirements need checking. Provide the model details and deployment countries so compatibility can be reviewed before ordering.

Do IoT SIMs always include voice and SMS?

No. These functions depend on the tariff, network and hardware. If the application needs voice, SMS commands or another specific capability, make it an explicit requirement during selection.

Can devices share a data allowance?

Pooled arrangements are available on selected services. They can suit an estate with varying consumption, but the pool rules, limits and additional-use charges need to be understood before deployment.

Is a fixed IP address required?

Not for every application. Many devices initiate outbound connections successfully without one. The required access path, remote-management method and any VPN design determine whether fixed public addressing or a private networking option is useful.

Can one plan be used internationally?

International options can be explored around the countries, devices and usage involved. Permitted networks, roaming restrictions and service terms are confirmed for the proposal; a general global description should not replace a deployment-specific check.

UK-wide service enquiries

IoT SIM cards across the UK.

Share device quantities, locations and likely usage before choosing a plan. UK-only deployments and devices travelling internationally can need different coverage, roaming terms, network access and management arrangements.

Based in Charlwood, we welcome enquiries nationwide, with a particular focus on Horley, Crawley, Gatwick, Surrey, Sussex and London. Delivery, availability and any site attendance are confirmed for your chosen service.
