Microsoft Direct Routing, explained
A familiar place to work.
A considered route for calling.
Direct Routing connects Microsoft Teams Phone to a telephony provider through a supported, Microsoft-certified Session Border Controller (SBC). It provides a route for calls to and from ordinary telephone numbers.
Radian helps bring the Microsoft licences, carrier service, numbers and call handling into one plan. A managed SBC arrangement can be considered so your business does not have to operate that component itself.

The features that matter, with the practical details made clear.
Use supported Teams clients and devices for external business calls when the required services and licences are in place.
Review number-transfer eligibility and dependencies before scheduling a move. Keep existing services active until the change is coordinated.
Agree the SBC and telephony service arrangements, including support responsibilities across the Microsoft and carrier components.
Plan welcome menus, queues and routing around your teams. Recording and contact-centre functions need separate compatibility and licensing checks.
Include office, remote and mobile working in the design, with suitable connectivity, headsets and supported devices.
Compare subscriptions, number charges, usage, destinations and contract terms together. Any allowances are confirmed in your quote.
Service availability, equipment, features, licences and support scope are confirmed in your proposal. Optional services are priced and agreed separately.

Make an informed choice
Check Teams access and Teams Phone entitlement for the required users. Resource accounts, shared devices and specialist features can have additional requirements.
List published numbers, users, opening hours and destinations. Confirm international calling, caller ID and emergency-calling arrangements.
Direct Routing, Operator Connect and Microsoft Calling Plans are distinct connectivity options. We confirm which model is being proposed.

External telephone calling requires the appropriate Teams Phone entitlement and a PSTN connection service. We check the complete licensing and service combination.
No. They are separate models for connecting Teams Phone to the telephone network. Your proposal should identify the model and responsibilities clearly.
Not necessarily. A managed SBC service may be available. We confirm the equipment or hosted components, charges and support included in the design.
Transfers depend on number eligibility, location and providers. We review the details and coordinate timing before cancellation.
Only where specified. Features may require additional software, licences, configuration and policies.
Teams clients need working connectivity and powered devices. An alternative connection or supported diversion can help, but the intended behaviour must be agreed and tested.
